# Inviting people to a course

> Invite by hand, or let the platform do it on a schedule.

There are two ways to get people into a course. Invite them yourself when you want a specific
course to go out, or set up automatic invites and let the platform keep enrolling people over
time.

Announcing the training before the invitation lands makes that invitation look genuine rather
than like phishing. See [Start courses](/template-course-start).

    The platform invites people on a monthly, quarterly or yearly rhythm.

## Manual invites

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the course">
    Go to the **Learning** tab and select a course by clicking its cog icon. This opens the
    management page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable it">
    Activate the course for your organisation, top right. Until you do, nobody can be invited
    to it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Invite people">
    Use the options under **Actions** to send the invitations.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Settings under **Actions** control how invitations work.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| Invite everyone | Invites the entire organisation |
| Re-invite already invited users | Sends reminders to people already invited |
| Users | Filters that let you invite a specific audience rather than everybody |
| Automatically assign | Invites new users as they appear, either everyone or only users matching tags such as business function, language or country |
| Certification threshold | The percentage a user must reach to pass the course |

<Tip>
  Automatically assign is particularly useful if you sync with Entra ID, since new joiners are
  enrolled without anybody remembering to do it.
</Tip>

## Automatic invites

Rather than deciding each time, you can let the platform invite people on a fixed rhythm. Find
it under **Settings** then **Learning**.

### How often

| Frequency | Invitations are sent |
| - | - |
| Monthly | Every month |
| Quarterly | Every three months |
| Yearly | Once a year |

### Which courses

Choose which set of courses the invitations draw from.

| Option | What it includes |
| - | - |
| Phishing awareness courses | All phishing-specific courses |
| All OutKept courses | Every course we make available |
| All courses enabled for this organisation | Only the courses you enabled yourself, as described under [Manual invites](#manual-invites) |

A preview of the courses in your selection appears in a list below the setting, so you can see
exactly what people will receive before switching it on.

<Tip>
  The third option keeps you in control of the curriculum: enable the courses you want people
  to take, and the automatic invites follow that list rather than everything we publish.
</Tip>

### Who gets invited

You can invite everybody on that rhythm, or base it on phish rate so the people who are
actually getting caught are the ones receiving training.

<Tip>
  Basing invites on phish rate targets the training where it is needed and keeps the load off
  people who are already spotting simulations. Inviting everybody monthly is the simpler
  option, and the right one if you need organisation-wide coverage for compliance.
</Tip>

## What people receive

An invitation email, which you can customise with your own branding and wording. See
[Feedback mails & invites](/customisation-replies).

Users who have not yet activated their learning account receive a different mail from those who
already have one. Both are customisable. What happens on their side is covered in
[End-user experience](/end-user-experience).
