# Spear phishing

> Targeting specific individuals on a date you choose.

This option sends your email to a specific target group on a set date, giving you full
control over timing and recipients.

## Selecting persons

You can select targets in two ways.

| Method | How it works |
| - | - |
| Filtering | Target users based on criteria set during onboarding, such as department, business function or custom filters specific to your organisation |
| Manual | Tick the box next to each user, or use the top checkbox to select all |

Once you have made your selection, a new container appears below showing an overview of all
selected users. Review it before continuing.

## Crafting the email

This works the same way as for campaign phishing: choose a sender from the list of domain
names, set the From Name, write the mail in HTML or plain text with no JavaScript, optionally
name an attachment, and optionally build a landing page.

See [Campaign phishing](/campaign-phishing) for the detail.

## Submission settings

On the review page you can schedule the email. There are two options.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Send immediately">
    Selecting **Send emails immediately** starts planning the mails as soon as you submit.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Schedule">
    Uncheck **Send emails immediately** and select a date. The start date determines when
    sending begins. An optional end date lets you spread the mails over a set duration.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

<Tip>
  Spreading a spear phishing send over a few hours avoids the situation where your first
  recipient warns the rest of the group within minutes.
</Tip>

## Afterwards

After the final review and clicking **Submit**, find it under **Emails** then **Spear
phishing** to review performance.
