# Whitelisting your own IP address

> Stop our bot detection from discarding your own test interactions.

To keep phishing data accurate, we run bot detection that filters out fake interactions and
false positives. Occasionally it catches real ones, typically your own, when you are
testing.

Two signs that this is happening:

* Our landing page shows a blank screen.
* Interactions are not recorded when you send a test email.

Whitelisting your IP address tells our bot detection that these interactions are genuine.

## Adding your IP address

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign in as an administrator">
    Log in to OutKept with an administrator account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the whitelisting settings">
    Go to **Settings** then the **Whitelisting** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the IP or range">
    Under **IP whitelisting**, add the required IP address or range.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Do not whitelist every IP address you find. Always confirm that the address you add
  corresponds to your own interactions. Whitelisting more than that lets genuine bot
  activity into your results.
</Warning>

## Test it

Send a test email and confirm the interactions are recorded and no longer flagged as bot
activity. See [Testing your whitelisting](/whitelisting-testing).

If problems persist, double-check that the whitelisted address is the right one.
